It's just coincidence... and if you listen to it without someone "translating" it, it's much harder neigh impossible to hear the "secondary lyrics". most likely this whole thing came about through an overactive imagination,

Alright I've read posts like this before and I honestly don't think LZ put satanic messages in their songs. For one their turntables didn't turn backwards it's just coincidence. Hell if you listened to all my conversations backwards you'd get evidence that I was satanic, gay, assassinated president kennedy, and support hilary clinton. Besides if you listen without looking at words all you hear is mumbling. Btw Jimmy Page isn't a satanist he was interested in the book of Aleister Crowley. Crowley was a freak but not a satanist.

No its not on purpose, bands that do that on purpose make it sound perfect and actually MAKES SENSE (pink floyd does it).

Like its been said before, a lot of things like this are peoples imagination and they get others to think of it the same way. ACDC was brought to court because in highway to hell it says "Do it" (when the song is played backwards. they played a clip it actually sounds like "Dao et" once and a girl ACTUALLY COMMITED SUICIDE because she heard "do it". I mean...for christ sake....

That's a pure disgrace to the band. Led Zeppelin wrote that song with the best of intentions. The only reason people hear those things is because you were prompted before hand to do so. An experiment was made by Simon Singh to prove this point. Another such example is the face on Mars on the Cydonia plain. I'm tired of people disgracing a respectable band because of bible thumping people who believe rock n' roll is satanic.

No, the words are there. Jimmy was a satanist, don't let anyone tell you he wasn't.

Simon Singh conducted an INFORMAL experiment. You can clearly hear the words sweet Satan and 666. The rest takes a bit more analysis.

If that's what you believe then I will leave it at that. It's not my place to instill something you don't believe in. I just find it incredibly frustrating when people attack music that is artistically written (particularly the solo). While music that is absolutely horrid and appealing is praised by the masses (like that atrocity Solider Boy that dears to be classified as music). I guess my frustration lies more in that, than in this old debate of "satanic" music when played backwards.

I can respect that. Stairway is still an amazing song, and because I am not playing it backwards nor do I worship Satan, I could careless. Just because played backwards it is creepy doesn't mean forwards it isn't amazing.
